5 Disney Website Warnings You Should See

When planning for a Disney World vacation, there are certain things you should ABSOLUTELY do ahead of time.

Disney World

Making a packing list, planning out your Genie+ selections, and looking at park maps can all help you have a great Disney vacation. But there might be a big thing you are overlooking when planning your trip.

You’ll find several important updates on the Disney World website, including the latest health and safety information, theme park reservations, help with the mobile app, and more. We’re going to take a look at some of the most important warnings on the Disney website for you to pay attention to.

1. The Courtesy Warning

Back at the end of 2022, Disney added a Courtesy tab to the Preparing for Your Visit Page on their website. The Courtesy tab reads that guests should “Be the magic you want to see in the world” and treat others with kindness, respect, and compassion.

What happens to those who don’t? Well, they will be asked to leave Walt Disney World. So it’s easy to avoid this — just be kind to Cast Members and other guests who are also trying to enjoy their vacation. It can get crowded and hot at Disney World. Sometimes there are a lot of people in one area like in queues for rides or waiting for a parade, and this can cause issues, but choose kindness.

2. Watch Out for Hotel Renovations Warnings

Before you book your Disney Hotel, you might want to double-check if there is a renovation warning listed on the page. For example, currently, there is a lot of construction happening at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. On the Disney World Website, you’ll find there is a warning about construction noises that you may hear throughout your stay.

The walkway between the hotel and Magic Kingdom is also closed for refurbishment, which is something that you would want to plan for if you are planning on staying at the Polynesian for easy access to Magic Kingdom. Of course, the resort monorail is still running to the park.

There is also construction going on at Disney’s Beach Club as they are renovating rooms.

If you plan on being at the parks all day, a little construction might not bother you. However, if you were planning on relaxing at the hotel or by the pool, this could impact you. There could also be some construction that impacts amenities like the spa or the pool. Be sure to check the website before booking your hotel.

3. Cancellation Policies Warning

There are times when you have to cancel your Disney trip last minute and it’s important to know Disney’s cancellation policies. This also includes canceling dining reservations as well. If you have to cancel a vacation package, you have to cancel your reservation within 30 days of the first day of your stay to get a full refund on your trip. For cancelations made 2 days to 29 days prior to your arrival, a refund will be issued MINUS a cancellation fee of $200 per package. For cancelations made 1 day or less prior to guest arrival, you lose everything you paid for the trip.

However, you can make changes to your reservation (subject to availability), although changes made less than 30 days before your arrival date are subject to a $50 fee per package. Also, you will have to pay for any price increases, if necessary.

You may also have a dining reservation and change your mind about wanting to eat there. Maybe you are having too much fun at the park and you’re not ready to leave yet. Each Disney World restaurant has its own cancelation policy, but most will allow you to cancel without a fee if you do so more than 2 hours ahead of the reservation. You can cancel a reservation online or by calling (407) 824-1391. If you need to cancel within 2 hours of the reservation, though, you may be charged a cancelation fee, depending on the restaurant.

Even if you aren’t planning on canceling your trip or your dining reservation, it’s important to know the policies ahead of time in case of emergencies or last-minute changes.

It’s no secret that Disney World can experience serve weather and even hurricanes. Last year, Disney World was impacted by two hurricanes, Ian and Nicole. During a hurricane, Disney World may temporarily close the parks, change hours, or even put a lockdown in place.

Last year during Hurricane Ian, Disney had multiple warnings posted on their website and in the My Disney Experience App. These warnings gave information about park closings and safety measures that Disney World was putting in place for guests.

Even if it’s not as serve as a hurricane, even thunderstorms can affect your trip. When there is lightning, high winds, or heavy rain in the area, some rides or attractions may be temporarily closed. Be sure to check Disney’s website and the app for more information on these.

5. Park Closed Warning

Sometimes it’s not just the weather that can close down a Disney park. Often, Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water parks temporarily close for refurbishment during the winter and spring months.

Blizzard Beach
