At the last D23 Expo in late 2022, Disney announced that the Pacific Wharf area of Disney California Adventure would be rethemed based on Big Hero 6 and would be known as San Fransokyoand now we know when it will be open!

Fans of the Walt Disney Animation Studios film Big Hero 6 will be familiar with San Fransokyo — “where East meets West, and technology meets tradition.” Guests can look forward to exploring this transformed land which will include all-new dining and shopping experiences.

And, it is scheduled to be completed later this summer! Disney shared that the “San Fransokyo Square Public Works Department is hard at work on this transformation” and we can’t wait.

The San Fransokyo Gate Bridge will “span the tide pools linking San Fransokyo Sqaure to the Paradise Gardens Park obelisk” and there will also be an old-fashioned floating wind turbine.

Disney shared that the dining locations you know and love will remain open, and new Asian-inspired selections will be coming as well.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on the San Fransokyo Square transformation at Disney California Adventure, to stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates!
