So not a lot of us will have the opportunity to check out the amazing adventure that is Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, which we call the Star Wars Hotel, but it’s really SO much more.
The 2-night interactive adventure takes guests to a galaxy far, far away for an interactive experience that puts them in their own Star Wars adventure which plays out differently depending on the decisions they make. The experience also boasts some fantastic visual effects (a “real” lightsaber). Now, Walt Disney Imagineering has been recognized for its work on the Galactic Starcruiser and more.
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is nominated by the Visual Effects Society for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Special Venue Project.
Along with the Star Wars Hotel, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT is nominated for the same award…
…as well as the Avengers: Quantum Encounter aboard the Disney Wish cruise ship!
Walt Disney Imagineering posted about the nominations on Instagram, congratulating the Imagineers who worked on the projects
The awards ceremony is on February 15th, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for any and all awards Disney may win. In the meantime, congratulations to Walt Disney Imagineering for the nominations.
We’ve always known about how Disney always pushes the boundaries of innovation and technology: we most recently got a MASSIVE Hulk for a meet-and-greet in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure (a HUGE feat for Imagineers) PLUS some amazing effects for Disney World’s newest ride, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. We’re also looking forward to what the upcoming TRON / Lightcycle Run attraction has in store.
