This weekend has been FULL of exciting Disney news!
Throughout the D23 Expo (Disney’s big fan event that happens every other year), we’ve learned more about upcoming projects, received details on new movies coming soon, and seen a LOT of incredible Disney memorabilia. But another big announcement this weekend included some casting news for an upcoming Disney special!
On December 15th, ABC will air Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Anniversary Celebration. This performance will be taped in front of a live studio audience and is set to feature many big-name celebrities in starring roles. Now, another is joining the cast! According to Deadline, Josh Groban is set to play Beast in the production.
Groban is certainly familiar with the show’s music and story, as he recorded a song for the 2017 live-action remake film. Now, he’ll be joining the rest of the cast to perform live himself. He’s starring alongside H.E.R. as Belle, Joshua Henry as Gaston, and Rita Moreno as the narrator.
The show will be two hours long and as we mentioned above, will be taped and then premiere on December 15th. We can’t wait!
We’ll stay tuned for any more casting news about this upcoming performance, so keep following along! And make sure you’re hanging around for any more big D23 Expo news — we’re expecting lots of details from the panels that take place today and tomorrow, including some big announcements during the Disney Parks panel on Sunday.
