REVIEW: There’s a Reason We Keep Coming Back to the France Booth at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival

If you’ve ever dreamed of sampling cuisines from around the world all in one spot — boy, do we have some GOOD NEWS for you!

We can’t wait to eat at this booth!

The 2022 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival has officially begun and we’re bringing you ALL the important news, updates, and food reviews you need to make your plans — like ALL the concerts you can see and full menus for ALL of the Festival booths! Now, it’s time to say, “Bonjour!” because we’re taking you to the France Booth to try some returning favorites and NEW items. With past dishes like Tarte Tropezienne and Braised Duck Confit à l’Orange, we’ve loved this booth at previous festivals — so let’s see what the France Booth has in store this year!

Menu

At the France Booth, we’ve got some returning items like the Beignet aux Trois Fromages and the Parmentier de Boeuf Braisé au Cabernet, and new items such as the Brioche aux Escargots, Sauce Crème à l’ail et Persil (a similar escargot dish was available last year) and the Crème Brûlée Vanille à la Confiture de Framboises.

For drinks, we’ve got returning favorites like the Strawberry Rose Mimosa and a new Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon Blend!

Alright, now it’s time for the main event!

Eats

We decided to start with one of the NEW menu items, the Brioche aux Escargots, Sauce Crème à l’ail et Persil. It’s Escargot brioche with creamy garlic and parsley sauce — it’s similar to the Croissant aux Escargots from past festivals, but has been changed and is now made with brioche instead of a croissant. You can get this for $7.25.

Brioche aux Escargots

HOLY GARLIC BATMAN. Wow. This thing was garlicky and that’s saying a LOT because our reporter who tried this one LOVES garlic. But, the brioche was light and fluffy, and a bit heartier than the croissant from past festivals. We didn’t really taste or even notice the escargot, so if that’s holding you back from trying this dish it might not be as bad as you think!

Next up, we tried the Parmentier de Boeuf Braisé au Cabernetbraised short ribs in cabernet with mashed potatoes?! Sign us UP! This dish is $6.75 — let’s find out if it’s worth you trying out!

Parmentier de Boeuf Braise au Cabernet

This dish was heaaaaaavyyyyyyy, man. It reminded us of the pot roast mom used to make — which isn’t necessarily a bad thing! There was nothing over the top or unexpected going on with the flavors here, and the mashed potatoes were pretty bland overall. If you’re looking for a heartier festival item, this might do the trick!

A little on the heavy side.

France is also serving the Beignet aux Trois Fromages for $6 which we’ve tried in years past. This cheesy, carby snack is a warm beignet filled with a three cheese blend. The beignet is sweet, and when we had this snack in the past we didn’t think it mixed well with the warm cheese filling, which is more like a cheesy gravy. You can read our full review here!

We recommend planning ahead if you’re going to try this item because you’re definitely going to need a nap immediately afterward. Save room for this bad boy because it is WORTH IT.

What’s not to love?

And finally, NEW at the France Booth this year is the Crème Brûlée Vanille à la Confiture de Framboises. Vanilla crème brûlée with house-made raspberry jam come together in this dessert — which you can get for $5.95. Oh, and did we mention this one is gluten-friendly?! We’ve seen other Crème Brûlée dishes from this booth in the past, but this year it’s had a bit of an upgrade!

Crème Brûlée Vanille à la Confiture de Framboises

We enjoyed this dessert — it was simple but light and refreshing. You have to dig all the way to the bottom to reach any of that raspberry jam, but when you do it is 🤌. The caramelized crust on top was nice and crunchy which was much needed from the custard.

Drinks

There are a few drinks on this menu! If you fancy a glass of red wine, there is the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon Blend, Bordeaux, Château de Riffaud, which you can get for $5.75.

If white wine is more your style, you can also get the Chardonnay, Louis de Camponac for $5.50.

The Strawberry Rose Mimosa for $8.95 would be PERFECT if you’re heading to the festival for brunch. In the past, we’ve loved the strawberry flavor and were happy to discover this wasn’t one of those super sweet drinks. Plus, can we talk about how PRETTY it is?!

Of course, it wouldn’t be the France Booth without a frozen slush, right?! The La Passion Martini Slush is made with Vodka, Grey Goose Le Citron, cranberry, and passion fruit juice for $12.95. At past festivals, we’ve thought this drink was okay, but we’d argue that the regular slushes you can get year-round in the France pavilion are much better!

So, what did we REALLY think of the France Booth this year?

Overall

France has been one of our favorite booths at past EPCOT Food & Wine Festivals, and this year we enjoyed it for the most part — though we didn’t discover any new standout favorites. If you’re a fan of créme brûlée, you should definitely check out this booth. And of course, that Beignet aux Trois Fromages keeps us coming back again and again.
