An Updated Look at Fantasmic! Construction in Disney World

Slowly, but surely, many experiences have returned to the Disney parks. Nighttime shows like the Main Street Electrical Parade, Disneyland Forever, and World of Color have returned to Disneyland Resort, and things like the Harmony Barber Shop, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and the popular Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue are preparing to open soon.

Another popular nighttime show is Fantasmic! This show has already returned to Disneyland, and while we know that it will be returning to Disney World this year, Disney has not shared an exact opening date yet. Progress is being made, however, and today we’re sharing an updated look at this space!

Recently, Bioreconstruct shared an aerial shot of the Fantasmic! theater on Twitter.

It’s noted that trash cans have been added to each seating section, which could be a sign that things are preparing to reopen. It also looks like there may have been some equipment placed to help with show lighting. The moat also has water in it, based on these most recent photos. We’ve seen that moat drained in the past, and then later refilled.

Disney hasn’t shared an opening date for Fantasmic! in Disney World yet, just that it will return in 2022. We do know that when the show does return, it will be updated and even include a brand new sequence!

The new sequence will include characters like Mulan, Elsa, Moana, and Aladdin, and Disney also shared the existing Pocahontas scene will be receiving an overhaul. The show is also returning with some technical enhancements.

If you’re looking for a nighttime show in Hollywood Studios before Fantasmic! reopens, you can catch the Wonderful World of Animation, which is a projection show that generally takes place each night at 9PM. It even features an Encanto scene now! Be sure to check the My Disney Experience app for the must updated information on the day of your visit.
