FIRST LOOK At EPCOT’s Guardians of the Galaxy Ride At Night!

We’re only ONE MONTH away from taking on the mission to save the galaxy (or something like that) on the NEW Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster in EPCOT!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

We’ve been following every single update about the ride since Disney first mentioned it as part of the big EPCOT transformation. Most recently, we got our first look at the new Wonders of Xandar pavilion from afar WITHOUT construction walls and now park-goers are set to be treated to another look at the new area TONIGHT!

If you happen to be at EPCOT tonight, you might notice that things are lighting up around Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind! Disney Imagineer, Zach Riddley announced that tonight will be the first time that they light up the ride’s exterior with the all-new pavilion lighting! The atmosphere is meant “to ensure that the people of Xandar have a suitable beacon for the message of peace and cooperation that they have brought to our park” according to Riddley.

He went on to write: “The lighting design reinforces the layering of space and scale that we focused on as we developed our exterior architecture, finishes, and color palette. We had such an amazing starting point with the pre-existing Universe of Energy building and looked for every opportunity to preserve and extend the many strong points of that facade.”

The lighting is designed to “highlight the intricate layering of masses and forms that define the building—not to mention its very imposing scale!” And, the Nova Corps Starblaster is set to be the focus of the pavilion at night in the middle of the courtyard! Riddley even noted that “its programming is intended to allow the Xandarians to play along in the vibrant skyline of our new vision for EPCOT.”

In case you missed it, there’s also a new commercial for the ride AND we even know what songs will play during your mission (or ride) — it’s going to be WILD. Of course, we’ll continue to keep an eye out for more news on the upcoming coaster, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest!
