NEWS: The Way You Experience KiteTails is CHANGING in Disney World!

Disney World has a ton of different entertainment options, from parades to shows to character appearances.

Festival of Fantasy is BACK!

Many of these options have just recently returned to the park, like the Festival of Fantasy Parade and Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire. And soon, even traditional meet and greets will be returning (meaning you can hug Mickey again!). Disney has also debuted some new entertainment over the past year, like the Disney Enchantment fireworks in Magic Kingdom and Disney KiteTails in Animal Kingdom. But now, changes are coming to one of these shows in the parks.

Changes are being made to the Disney KiteTails show in Animal Kingdom.

Disney says that they are shifting the focus of the show so guests will now be able to experience KiteTails from anywhere around the Discovery River Lagoon. Currently, guests watch the show from the Discovery River Amphitheater.

Disney also said that there will now be shorter and more frequent performances throughout the day. Right now, showtimes are listed for 11:15AM, 12:15PM, 1:15PM, 3:15PM, 4:15PM, and 5:15PM. With 6 showtimes happening every day right now, we’re curious to see just how many new shows are going to be added to the schedule!

It’s super fun!

KiteTails has two different versions of the show that you can see — one with characters from The Lion King and the other with characters from The Jungle Book.

Between KiteTails performances, Disney says that Discovery River will now “come alive” with Character Flotillas. These boats have been used since the parks reopened in 2020 to move characters around on the waterways instead of having traditional meet and greets.

This is a great way to see characters!

Disney says the boats will “fill the waters throughout the park with music, EARidescent 50th anniversary moments, and characters including Mickey and friends, Timon, Rafiki, and Pocahontas several times each day.” Right now, these characters already come around on the Flotillas, so it sounds like the appearances will now be happening more frequently, but we’ll have to wait and see!
